Thank you, Father, for 2020

Katelyn, a co-author of this blog, is currently serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She recently wrote this beautiful statement of gratitude and I wanted to share it here. This message is central to the purpose of our blog. God really does love us!

Where was I one year ago?

Battered, bruised, and buried by life.

With the start of the new year, I asked God to heal me and help me back up.

God never helps me in the way I ask Him to.

Rather than take away my insecurity, He helped me develop confidence.

Rather than simply restore my physical health, He helped me work to a place of greater health and fitness than I have ever had before.

Rather than restore me to my previous emotional state, He put people in my life who helped me heal and challenged me to pursue the person I have always wanted to be.

Rather than put me back where I started — rather than take away my breaks and flaws — God walked with me to higher heights and further paths than I ever could have reached alone.

Thank you, Father, for 2020.

Here’s to what we can do together in 2021.
